Channel & Brown Outfitting Company L.L.C (MT Outfitter #7886) is a Cascade Montana-based outfitting service owned and operated by Lindsey Channel and Dave Brown.
Hatched during the Covid-19 pandemic when an opportunity came knocking in the form of buying out an existing outfitter's big game and upland bird hunting N.C.H.U. days. We both jumped at the opportunity, at the same time we had a good hard look at the Missouri River fly-fishing scene and started conducting trips with the best interests of clients and guides in mind.We do this by listening to our clients and asking them what they want to accomplish. Both Lindsey and Dave have their hands on the pulse of the river by being out there on a a daily basis guiding and fishing the Missouri River, which as a guide you need to do if you want to know what is going on day to day in order to guide on the Missouri River.
How We Roll
With a combined 50 years of outfitting and guiding experience is proof that we have been around for a while and know what it takes to successfully run an outfitting company focused on providing excellent customer service. During the fly-fishing season, you will find both Dave and Lindsey at the oars doing what they do best.
When fall rolls around things change. For Lindsey, that means stalking Big Montana mule and whitetail deer with clients in tow across the high plains of eastern Montana. Dave heads up the Montana Bird Hunting department and is no stranger to what it takes to guide and outfit successful Montana fly-fishing trips and Montana Bird Hunts. Our guides that work with us share the same passion and commitment as we do.
Meet Lindsey Channel (MT Outfitter #7886)
Lindsey grew up with a passion for the outdoors. He started his professional guide career in 1989 where he guided fly fishing trips in remote Alaska. After guiding for a decade for a few different high-end lodges, it was time to start his own outfit.
In 1999, he started Channel Outfitters. The goal was to provide quality adventures in fly-fishing and big-game hunting. With well over 3,000 guided fishing trips and hundreds of successful hunts, the dream is reality.
Meet Dave Brown (MT Guide #15117)
After serving 7 years in the Canadian Army in the storied Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and the Elite Canadian Airborne Regiment, Dave took another journey and began his outfitting and guiding career 27 years ago on Alberta's Bow River. He has never looked back. Dave's business spilled over into neighbouring British Columbia where he became the first fly-fishing guide and outfitter in that region.
Dave then added guided upland bird hunting to his menu and was soon spending the fall months on the Prairies of Alberta and Saskatchewan, chasing birds with his string of pointing dogs.
In 2006, Dave met his American wife, Lisa, and together they now call Patagonia, Arizona home. Dave again expanded Orvis-endorsed Dave Brown Outfitters to include guided Arizona quail hunts during the winter months.
Dave Brown first fished the Missouri River in 1995 and has held a Montana Guide license since 2009. Dave now spends his fishing season guiding fly-fishing clients on the Missouri River, Alberta's Bow River and a few rivers in between. Dave considers these two tailwaters to be the best in the Rocky Mountain West.
He is the only Orvis-endorsed fly-fishing and wingshooting outfitter on the planet. Dave is also a member of the ClackaCraft drift boat pro-staff.
